Rey Mysterio Undergoes Successful Knee Surgery, Faces Road to Recovery

WWE legend Rey Mysterio undergoes successful knee surgery after a torn meniscus, eyes revenge on Escobar.

Renowned WWE superstar Rey Mysterio took to social media to announce that he has undergone successful knee surgery after grappling with a torn meniscus for the past three months.

The news comes after he was written out of the WWE storylines thanks to an attack by Santos Escobar during Friday’s episode of SmackDown. Mysterio, the masked lucha libre legend, known for his high-flying acrobatics and charismatic presence, disclosed that this recent injury has been a persistent challenge that gradually worsened over time.

In a Facebook post this morning, Mysterio shared a snapshot from his hospital bed, showcasing his right leg securely wrapped after the surgery. Despite the physical challenges, Mysterio remains undeterred, expressing gratitude for the successful surgery and hinting at a future clash with Santos Escobar. Meanwhile, Escobar tweeted a response to the photo, saying, “Don’t come back.”

The wrestling community sends its best wishes for a swift and complete recovery to the iconic luchador. Mysterio, who has a storied career in professional wrestling, is reportedly having the 10th surgery on his knee.

This latest procedure, deemed successful, is expected to keep him on the sidelines for a recovery period spanning 6 to 8 weeks. How WWE writes the LWO storyline moving forward without him will be intriguing. It will likely center around Carlito and Santos Escobar. Surely, Rey’s beef with Santos is just beginning. After facing betrayal on “WWE SmackDown”, there is no way he lets this slide.

As Mysterio embarks on his journey to heal, he should be back in time for the Royal Rumble and potentially build towards a match with Escobar. If WWE really builds this up, they could be thinking about something for WrestleMania 40.

Where Does The Rest of The LWO Stand?

One thing that wasn’t entirely clear after Friday’s show is where everyone in the LWO sits on this. It appears they’re all siding with Mysterio, but Santos out on his own without an entourage of any kind seems unlikely.

He may try to regain control of the group, or get his own faction going. This is likely going to take the next few weeks of storylines on the blue brand, carefully weaving a narrative that sets up Mysterio’s return.
