Ukrainian Defence Forces Destroy Rare Russian Svet-KU EW System

Armed Forces of Ukraine EW Occupants elimination Ukraine War with Russia

The Ukrainian military destroyed a rare Russian RB-636 Svet-KU electronic warfare system with a precision strike.

A video of the hit on enemy equipment was published on the official Telegram channel of the Ukranian South Joint Task Force.

The vehicle of the Russian EW system was spotted by Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance.

The Ukrainian reconnaissance drone tracked the movement of the system and targeted rocket artillery on it. This happened in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region.

Judging by the footage of the published video, the vehicle of the Russian RB-636 Svet-KU EW system was hit by a GMLRS rocket fired from the HIMARS launcher.

The vehicle with the crew and operators of the system is located in a wooded area. Probably, the Russians planned to deploy the system and carry out a mission for its intended purpose.

This is the third time the Russian Army has lost such an electronic warfare system during the full-scale war against Ukraine.

As is known, the first Svet-KU system became the trophy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in March 2022.

And already in August 2023, the Defense Forces of Ukraine destroyed the second such Russian mobile EW system.

RB-636 Svet-KU entered into service with the Russian army in 2012. The developers state that this system is able to assess the electromagnetic environment, search, detect, and analyze radio emissions, and determine the location of their sources.

It is unknown how many such systems were delivered to the Russian army as of today.

At the same time, it is worth noting that the Russians used these EW systems in the temporarily occupied territories and before the large-scale invasion. According to the InformNapalm project, RB-636 Svet-KU systems were spotted in Ukraine in 2016, 2019, 2020, and 2021.
