Genealogical Tree of Humanity

One of the first of many trees of life that have been drawn since Darwin published his On the Origin of Species in 1859, was by renowned German naturalist and embryologist Ernst Haeckel (1834-1919). Haeckel accepted the common ancestry of life, but differed from Darwin in favoring inheritance of acquired characteristics over natural selection as the means by which species form. Anybody got any idea as to who was right? Me think none.
