Scientists “X-ray” Volcano

Woops, it seems some scientists at the University of Utah kind of x-rayed a volcano. I love the resulting image of deep volcanic plumbing as well as partly molten rock of Mount Rainier that according to them will erupt again someday.

According to geologists, “This is the most direct image yet capturing the melting process that feeds magma into a crustal reservoir that eventually is tapped for eruptions”.

Mount Rainier is a massive and active stratovolcano located 87 km south-east of Seattle in Washington, United States, and is believed to erupt again. It was 2,200 years ago when its last lava flowed of hot rock and ash.
