Asia Baykar Bayraktar Procurement Turkey UAV

Kyrgyzstan has received Turkish Akinci multi-purpose UAVs manufactured by Baykar and Aksungur by TAI.

Defense Turk reported on this.

The Kyrgyzstan Border Guard Service will be using the transferred drones.

Sadyr Japarov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic, participated in the drone transfer ceremony. He inspected the base infrastructure, UAVs, and personnel.

Japarov noted that for the first time in the country’s history, modern drones were purchased for the border service. He emphasized that modern high-tech UAVs will greatly contribute to the security of the country.

As part of the event, the Head of State awarded Haluk Bayraktar, General Director of Baykar, the Order of Glory, the state award of the Kyrgyz Republic.

On October 12, 2022, Militarnyi reported that Kyrgyzstan could become the next foreign operator of the Turkish Akinci heavy unmanned aviation system.

This is not the first time Kyrgyzstan has used the services of the Turkish military industry.

In 2021, it was reported that Kyrgyzstan purchased Bayraktar TB2 drones, also intended for the country’s Border Guard Service, from the Turkish company Baykar.

Later, in December 2021, it was reported that Kyrgyz border guards received the UAVs.

In addition to purchasing Turkish drones, Kyrgyzstan is developing its national potential in this direction.

In October 2022, Militarnyi reported that for the first time, Kyrgyzstan assembled a SAARA-02 military drone of its own production.

The UAV is equipped with modern optical and electronic sensors for optical reconnaissance and is capable of conducting strike functions. It can carry light controlled aircraft ammunition and point them at the target.
