Seaworthy Luxury with a Greenhouse on Board: VY.01 Superyacht

Health-conscious billionaires who have a deep affinity for the ocean may soon find solace in a remarkable venture that allows them to embrace nature to the fullest.

A concept model of an environmentally-friendly superyacht, boasting a massive greenhouse and vegetable garden, has recently been unveiled by a German design company. This extraordinary vessel, known as the VY.01, stretches 110 meters in length and was masterminded by the Berlin-based design studio 3deluxe design studio, who aptly described it as a “paradisiacal biotope.”

Powered by liquid hydrogen, this superyacht will enable billionaires with a penchant for cultivating their own fruits and vegetables to embark on a life of luxury at sea while maintaining a commitment to sustainable practices. Instead of traditional soil-based cultivation, the ship will utilize a hydroponic system, which involves growing plants in aqueous mineral nutrient solutions.

To sustain the plants within the greenhouse, a seawater desalination system, fueled by zero-carbon solar panels, will eliminate salt from the water. The vessel will also boast a saltwater swimming pool, a glazed roof, and open sides that can be closed during inclement weather or for increased speed.

The designers of this innovative superyacht acknowledge that its construction will require significant resources. However, they express hope that the owner of the yacht will utilize it as an educational hub when not indulging in relaxation, thus maximizing its potential beyond personal enjoyment.
