Behold the Epic Speed of the World’s New Superyacht, Set to Dominate the Seas

Depending on whom you ask, bigger may not always equate to better, but in the world of superyacht design, bigger typically equals sluggish. Vanquish’s VQ115 Veloce, which the company claims will be one of the world’s fastest superyachts longer than 30 meters (about 98.5 feet), may soon alter this.

The VQ115, commissioned by a repeat client from the Dutch luxury yacht company, reaches an impressive 51 knots, or about 59 miles per hour, and spans 35 meters or 114.8 feet. Later this year, the 32-seat, three-deck powerboat will be delivered to its proprietor in North America.

Vanquish intends to install three MTU Rolls-Royce 2600s engines with surface drives to power the nearly 100-ton vessel. In addition to an additional fuel canister that can be used for 15-knot cruising when the vessel is powered by two engines, it will have a range of over 500 nautical miles.

Studio Delta, a naval architecture firm, was enlisted by the Vanquish team to design the yacht’s hull to reduce drag and enhance efficiency at top speeds. The remainder of the exterior, designed by Guido de Groot, is aluminum and similarly streamlined and contemporary.

There will be an abundance of entertainment options on board. Two smaller Vanquish vessels, the VQ16 and VQ11, will be held in a tender bay and a second starboard garage, respectively. The design also includes a live bait aquarium, bar, saltwater jacuzzi, office space, cinema room, and multiple outdoor lounging and dining areas.

Despite its enormous dimensions, the VQ115’s cabin is notably small, with only three sleeping rooms. This is not an oversight, but rather the client’s specific request for an entertaining and interactive vessel. Given its immensity, the superyacht is certain to perform admirably on this front.
