Denmark will increase military aid to Ukraine by €3 billion by 2027.
The Ministry of Defense of Denmark reported on this.
The Danish government and parliamentary majority have agreed on additional funding for the fund that supports Ukraine.
The fund was increased by DKK 2.3 billion (€308 million) in 2023 and by DKK 23.5 billion (€3.15 billion) for 2025-2027.
The total amount of military aid to Ukraine will increase in Danish krones by 2.3 billion in 2023, 10.5 billion in 2025, 7.4 billion in 2026, and 5.6 billion in 2027.
“We don’t know how long the war in Ukraine will last, but we know that donations are crucial for Ukraine to continue its fight against Russia. Throughout the war, Denmark has been a staunch supporter of Ukraine, and when we now step up our support, both in 2023 and especially with the significant allocation of funds in 2025-2027, we send a clear message that Ukrainians can count on Denmark’s support in the long term,” said Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.
The additional funding will also help ensure that Denmark meets the minimum 2% of GDP defense spending agreed upon by NATO member states.
“There is a war in Europe, and that is why we, the Danish Democrats, are pleased to be part of an agreement that ensures that Denmark and our allies send a clear message to Russia that we continue to provide military aid to Ukraine’s fight for freedom,” says Lise Bech, Defense Spokesperson for the Danish Democrats.
Militarnyi previously reported that Denmark transferred SeaBat T51-R unmanned surface vehicles for the needs of the Ukrainian Navy.
Its capabilities allow for the detection of underwater objects, which is of great importance for Ukrainian sailors today.
On October 26, it was also reported that Denmark announced the provision of the 13th military aid package to Ukraine for DKK 3.7 billion.
In particular, the military aid package comprises T-72EA tanks, IFVs, artillery ammunition, drones, small arms, and military engineering vehicles.
