A Zero-Emissions Electric Superyacht Concept with a Breathtaking 3-Story Vertical Garden

The new megayacht from Hidden Portside is further evidence that sustainability and luxury sailing are not mutually exclusive.

The innovative 164-foot Naboo yacht, designed by a Barcelona-based design studio, combines eco-friendly amenities and zero-emissions propulsion with a design-savvy aesthetic.

The hull of the silvery ship was fashioned from recycled aluminum, and it is replete with sinuous circular lines. The studio claims that this “ring concept” creates a non-linear sensation of movement onboard as opposed to a typical linear flow.

As its moniker implies, the superyacht was inspired in part by Star Wars. Naboo is a planet in the cherished science fiction franchise’s universe that is distinguished by its verdant terrain. Therefore, the futuristic interior of the ship is filled with a profusion of vegetation.

In the center of Naboo is a veranda that is more than 1,000 square feet in size. In addition to its plush lounge and bar, this area features a soaring vertical garden that connects all three platforms. It also has foldable platforms on both sides for convenient ocean access.

The zen beach club is located one level above the main deck and features a bar and Jacuzzi. Four cabins that can accommodate eight guests are located elsewhere on this deck, along with an open galley or “chef’s house” where sailors can observe the meticulous preparation of meals.

On the bridge deck is the luxurious master cabin, which features a 355-foot private terrace and another Jacuzzi. The captain’s quarters are also located on this deck, adjacent to the ship’s helm.

The lower deck is equipped with a 26-foot garage and storage space for an arsenal of tools and tenders, as well as a second galley where eight crew members can prepare meals.

Despite her ample size, Naboo has a negligible carbon footprint. In lieu of a sundeck, the ship is equipped with an electric propulsion system and solar panels on the roof. This enables her to operate on clean energy and sail the seas without emitting any pollution. To prevent excessive use of air conditioning, the studio has incorporated a variety of clever PCMs (Phase Change Materials) that absorb heat. Additionally, the superstructure is coated with an ultra-reflective metallic paint that deflects ultraviolet radiation and keeps the interior air cool.

“Naboo represents another lifestyle,’smart luxury,’ in which sustainability is a mindset, preserving the beauty and elegance of the past, but relying on the innovation of the future,” the studio said in a statement.
