Described as a “floating, living island,” Kairos boasts a symmetrical profile without a discernible forward direction. This design approach eliminates the conventional urgency associated with reaching destinations, facilitating a lifestyle that fully embraces the present moment.

A remarkable feature is the expansive three-level “theatrical piazza” that defies traditional yacht design norms. All guest and owner accommodations are situated on the lower deck, fostering a heightened sense of spaciousness and fluidity throughout the primary guest areas on the main level.

Oceanco has revealed further insights into the E-Hybrid propulsion system, which leverages batteries as the primary energy source. Diesel generators come into play for battery recharging and high-speed travel. This configuration results in a noiseless, minimally vibrating, and emission-free operation, contributing to a greener yachting experience.

Kairos, a creation by Lateral Naval Architects, aligns with Oceanco’s NXT sustainability initiative, exemplifying a fusion of technical design and engineering prowess.

Who says a port must be located on land? Certainly not Lazzarini. This is due to the fact that the design studio’s most recent innovative concept is a superyacht that functions as a dockyard for small tenders serving the high seas.

The futuristic Saturnia is 328 feet long and has a geometric silhouette with pointed, angular lines. The ship will be made exclusively of dry carbon fiber, which, according to Lazzarini, will make it approximately 50 percent lighter than ships of comparable size.

Of course, the private port located midship is the crowning achievement. This one-of-a-kind sheltered area is accessible through two large apertures on each side that automatically raise when needed. Similar to a standard wharf, it can facilitate the entry and exit of mariners while also accommodating vessels with a draft of up to 5 feet. Consider it the entrance to your very own floating hotel.

The interior comprises five floors plus an antenna/radar area on the roof. It is characterized by high ceilings and enormous windows that maximize the view of the ocean. It can accommodate between 10 and 20 guest suites and dormitories for 20 crew members, with a layout that can be tailored to each owner’s preferences.

A crisis gave birth to Stefano Pastrovich’s most recent expedition cruise ship. No, it’s not Covid-19, but Pastrovich Studio’s newest invention may provide a solution to the challenges we may face in travel in the near future.

In 2008, as the global economic crisis seized the globe, Pastrovich and his team of naval architects observed that many cultures were embracing a new entry point to the enjoyment of luxury goods: the charter market. The team prioritised the availability of luxury over its exclusive proprietorship. Recently, Pastrovich has witnessed the emergence of a new generation of consumers with similar interests.

“These experience-seeking adventure tourists dream of exploring the seas in the utmost comfort, luxury, and privacy,” said Pastrovich to Robb Report. Pastrovich refers to these individuals as “X-Travelers,” and they seek out boutique hotels, luxury concierge services, and private aircraft. “However,” he continues, “they have not yet discovered a cruise ship that can make their dreams come true.”

The yacht X-Expedition Cruise is intended to fill this vacancy.

The 331-foot-long, 62-foot-wide vessel represents a novel combination of construction techniques. It combines the engineering and design elements that define superyacht projects with the modular principles used to construct modern cruise ships, where the cabins, windows, vertical accesses, and common areas fit together like a jigsaw puzzle.

Pastrovich is especially pleased of the modular architecture. “This allows us to achieve cost-effective management and construction times without sacrificing luxury construction details,” he explains. Moreover, without sacrificing aesthetic appeal.”

The X-Expedition Cruise can be easily constructed in what Pastrovich terms the ship’s optimal configuration due to its modular design: There are 48 standard suites, 4 deluxe suites, and 2 owner suites to accommodate 108 visitors. These quarters measure 312, 624, and 936 square feet, accordingly. The ship’s owners can also opt for the deluxe configuration, which accommodates 84 passengers in 24 standard suites, 16 deluxe suites, and 2 owner suites, or the penultimate owner configuration, which accommodates 64 passengers in 24 deluxe suites and 4 owner suites.

Regardless of configuration, the vessel’s most alluring feature is its capacity to provide passengers with a cruise experience resembling that of a private superyacht. He states, “Space creates privacy, and privacy determines exclusivity.”

The new vessel also features hybrid propulsion from Wartsila’s most recent generation. Already eco-friendly with lower emissions, shifting into its extreme “green” mode — which generates no noise, vibration, or emissions — provides a genuine back-to-nature sensibility. “Nature is the protagonist, and the ship is an instrument,” says Pastrovich, “so that guests can enjoy the symphony of nature’s sounds without interruption.”

The naval architect acknowledges that smaller ship cruising has become increasingly popular in recent years, but he believes that the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic will only increase demand for this form of travel. “The pandemic has altered the common perception of solitude and privacy,” he says. People are rediscovering the value of paying more for more capacity per passenger.

Revolutionary Superyacht Design: ‘The Streets of Monaco’ Takes the Seas by Storm

A groundbreaking design for a mammoth superyacht, with an estimated value of £244 million, has been revealed. This extraordinary vessel, named “The Streets of Monaco,” faithfully replicates the iconic landmarks of the lavish city-state, of Monaco.

Imitating the streets of Monaco, the yacht showcases renowned structures such as the distinguished Hotel de Paris, Prince’s Palace, Loews Hotel, Port Hercule, and La Rascasse. But that’s not all – it also offers a host of extravagant features, including a go-kart race track inspired by the world-famous Monaco Grand Prix circuit. Additionally, the superyacht boasts a helipad, mini submarine, speedboats, jet skis, swimming pools, and Jacuzzis, ensuring unparalleled luxury and entertainment.

Rob McPherson, one of the project’s founders, explained, “The theme is based around the Mediterranean principality, with the primary focus being the famous Grand Prix circuit. Our goal was to recreate the circuit as a fully-functional kart track, allowing for thrilling races with three karts side-by-side, providing ample opportunities for overtaking. The track’s dimensions heavily influenced the overall size of the yacht and the placement of the iconic landmarks.”

Spanning a breathtaking length of 155 meters, the superyacht can accommodate up to 16 guests and 70 crew members, reaching a top speed of 15 knots. Connected through a private lift and spanning three floors, the owner’s apartment epitomizes luxury, featuring a fireplace, double-height ceiling, office, bedroom, private courtyard, sunroom, and a sundeck complete with a Jacuzzi/swimming pool.

Rob further added, “Our team comprises individuals with diverse backgrounds, including marine, aerospace, and interior design. Our shared desire to create something new and captivating, along with a genuine interest in storytelling through architecture and environment, served as the driving forces behind this project.”

He concluded, “It took approximately six months to develop the concept for ‘The Streets of Monaco.’ While each team member has their favorite elements, we are all immensely proud of the final result. We have received significant interest from the public for cruise opportunities, as well as inquiries for potential commercial applications. We are actively seeking clients, whether private or commercial, who share our vision and are eager to embark on this new and extraordinary design journey. Assessing the precise build cost is challenging without a fully defined specification, but a sensible starting point would be around $400 million, with potential variations depending on specific requirements.”

Project Orion: A Spectacular Glimpse into the Interior Design of the 50m Heesen Superyacht

Heesen Yachts has released the first interior renderings for its new 49.8-meter superyacht Project Orion. The Dutch shipyard has collaborated with Cristiano Gatto to design an interior that is not only exclusive to Project Orion, but also reflects and complements the vessel’s avant-garde exterior lines.

The interior design of Project Orion, also known as Project YN 20750, was inspired by NASA’s Orion spacecraft. Cristiano Gatto remarked, “The interior design of Project Orion is the result of research motivated by complementary and partially contrasting needs: comfort and luxury.”

Her interior has been designed to take advantage of her 499 GT of internal volume, with materials and furnishings engineered to reduce weight, expedite the maintenance of concealed equipment, and facilitate installation. Gatto added, “We have used construction details and opulent materials as crown jewels to refine the space while ensuring its cosiness and comfort.”

Heesen Yachts Interiors artisans and craftspeople are responsible for all aspects of Project Orion’s interior construction and completion. She utilises over 37 distinct materials, such as high-gloss timbers, woven leather, marbles, and custom carpets.

“We used shapes and materials that exude comfort and serenity while displaying a refined atmosphere where materials, their combination, details, and shapes highlight the uniqueness and exclusivity of this custom yacht interior,” said Cristiano.

Six opulent accommodations onboard Project Orion can accommodate up to twelve passengers. Her master suite will be located forward on the main deck, while her VIP suite, two double suites, and two twin suites will be located on the lower deck. Floor-to-ceiling windows and exposed bulwarks provide her with an abundance of natural light.

Omega Architects designed the exterior of Project Orion, while Heesen and Van Oossanen designed the ship’s hull. She is made of lightweight aluminium and is part of Heesen’s 50-meter Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) aluminium series. Additionally, Project Orion has a modest draught of 2.15 metres, making her Bahamas-friendly.

With a hybrid power system, Project Orion will provide both silent propulsion and power management flexibility for maximum energy efficiency. Her twin 600 kW MTU 12V 2000 M61 (IMO III) engines will propel her to a maximum speed of 16.3 knots. At 12 knots, excluding hotel cargo, Orion’s fuel consumption is just 98 litres per hour, and at 10 knots in hybrid mode, it drops to 45 litres per hour.
