Unveiling the UP40 Explorer: Antonini Navi’s Striking Yacht Concept of the Day!

June seems like a very distant memory, but I recall the unveiling of the Utility Platform 40 and the Italians at Antonini Navi celebrating their accomplishment. The UP40 Explorer superyacht concept is based on the same modular steel platform as the Utility Platform 40, but it appears even better.

The UP40 Explorer was designed in collaboration with renowned yacht designer Fulvio de Simoni, whose name should ring a bell if you’re a sailing and luxury yacht enthusiast.

According to Fulvio de Simoni, this initiative posed a significant challenge in light of the other available options and the fact that it had to share the UP40 platform.

The goal was to design a vessel that was comfortable, dependable, and safe, with a hint of a military feel, but which could be readily and extensively customized upon request for extended cruises and long-distance travel.

The newest yacht project from Antonini Navi displays aggressive lines, with a raised superstructure based on the shipyard’s offshore patrol vessel designs – similar to North Atlantic tugboats.

This magnificent vessel is slated to be available in two variants, Classic Explorer and Sports Explorer, and promises to meet all of your needs in addition to offering various sundeck arrangements.

The Classic Explorer’s 60-square-meter raised deck is intended to serve as a technical space for tenders, submersibles, and water sports. Its sundeck features a military-style pilothouse, while sunbeds and a sun pad are located in the rear section.

In contrast, the Sports Explorer version appears to be more influenced by military vessels. The 65-meter-long owner’s suite, however, begs to differ.

Antonini Navi collaborated with the Netherlands’ MARIN Maritime Research Institute to test this vessel in extreme conditions.

The UP40 Explorer, according to its designers, would have a range of over 6,000 miles at 11 knots and a maximum speed of approximately 15 knots. Would you like to circumnavigate the globe aboard this yacht?

Unveiling the Astonishing $86M Superyacht Concept That Can ‘Fly’ Across the Water

There are a few universal transportation laws: cars drive, airplanes fly, and yachts sail. However, a novel flying superyacht from Lazzarini Design Studio may soon alter our perceptions of travel. CNN reports that the Plectrum concept boat is equipped with hydrofoil technology, which is best characterized as an underwater fin, allowing it to “fly” at high speeds. To accomplish this, three 5,000-horsepower hydrogen-powered turbines lift the yacht from underneath.

The design team stated in a statement, “We like to remember that shipbuilding was already capable of similar vessel construction in 1964.” The history of hydrofoil technology dates back even further, to 1906. This novel creation was inspired by the America’s Cup, an international sailing competition, where speciality vessels are most commonly seen by sailors. However, the majority of these vessels are not even near the size proposed by Lazzarini Design Studio. The America’s Cup model, the AC75, is 75 feet long. On the other hand, Plectrum is estimated at 246 feet. Consequently, if it were to be constructed, it would not come cheap: the designers estimate that it would cost approximately $86 million.

Nevertheless, according to Lazzarini, hydrofoil technology would enable the boat to travel considerably faster than other vessels of comparable dimensions. According to CNN, designers believe the yacht could reach 75 knots (approximately 86 miles per hour). The four-deck design includes amenities such as a helipad, beach club, swimming pool, six guest cabins, and an owner’s residence. Obviously, building a hydrofoil of this size would be a significant challenge; however, Lazzarini Design Studio is confident that the flying superyacht could be constructed within two years if a buyer is located.

Residential Superyachts: The New Benchmark for Luxury Living?

In 2026, Njord is anticipated to be delivered

The Njord yacht, a 948-foot cruise ship being constructed by the German shipbuilder Meyer Werft, has all the amenities you’d expect from a luxury vessel of its class: a travel and excursion concierge, multiple terraces and lounge spaces, a wide variety of dining options, a spa and wellness center, a gym, shops, and retail offerings, as well as a nightclub and jazz lounge. The superyacht even has some amenities, such as a helicopter with an onboard hangar and a dive center, that feels especially opulent in comparison to the already lavish amenities on board. Obviously, there is one significant distinction between Njord and every other cruise ship on the open seas: Whereas the latter will likely transport island- and coast-hopping tourists for no more than a few weeks, the former will be owned by hundreds of families and maybe their permanent residence.

Each residence aboard the Njord is equipped with a private terrace that overlooks the ocean

Ocean Residences Development announced the project in 2020, describing it as “the world’s largest private residence yacht” and naming it after the Norse deity of the sea. Developers revealed at the time that the vessel would feature 117 private residences spanning in size from 1,500 to 9,000 square feet and costing between $8.5 million and $70 million. Even though the ship is expected to be completed by 2026, the first ten of these residences have already hit the market, with Mauricio Umansky and Santiago Arana of The Agency representing their sales exclusively.

A stateroom designed by David Linley aboard the Njord

Each domicile onboard the ship is designed to resemble a traditional home as closely as possible, and fifteen different floor plans are available. To add even more variety to the residential options, the developers have enlisted a group of interior designers and architects to place their own spin on a number of the onboard residences. Kelly Hoppen and David Linley each worked on the first ten units of the project, while Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston, Francesca Muzio of FM Architettura, Taylor Howes, Sabrina Monteleone of Sabrina Monte-Carlo, and 1508 London are also confirmed designers.

The principal of The Agency, Santiago Arana, said in a statement that “Njord is a magnificent opportunity for buyers who aspire to be global citizens aboard one of the most amenity-rich superyachts currently available.” “I cannot wait to share this exclusive residential offering with those seeking one of the world’s most prestigious addresses.” Though each residence is intended to be distinctive, all units will share certain characteristics, including floor-to-ceiling windows, Gaggenau appliances, custom cabinetry, smart home technology, and private terraces.

Nonetheless, the Njord yacht is not the only endeavor that combines a private superyacht, a luxury cruise ship, and a first-class condominium. A similar vessel, Somnio, which was announced in the summer of 2021, will offer 39 private units for sale to an elite group of purchasers. The ship, as described on its website, “embodies the new era of yachting by combining ownership with community and privacy with intimacy.”

This living room was designed by Kelly Hoppen with a moodier, grayer palette

In any case, it appears to be a new era. Despite the appearance that these two vessels are riding a new tide of residential living, the concept is not as novel as it may seem. The World, a superyacht comprised of 165 private residences, has circumnavigated its namesake for nearly 20 years without significant opposition. With the introduction of two new competitors twenty years later, the market appears to be catching up. As more people of working age adopt a nomadic lifestyle, it is conceivable that this way of life will grow in popularity.

In the bedroom of a home designed by Kelly Hoppen, gold elements stand out

With potentially more similarities than differences, it is unclear how these various floating complexes will differentiate themselves. On Njord, developers prioritize the scientific investigation and environmental responsibility. The ship is outfitted with an extensive assortment of oceanographic instruments and facilities, such as a wet and dry oceanographic laboratory, a high-capacity cloud computing system, multibeam echo sounders, an air and water sampling system, and two submarines.

In addition, engineers and designers intend to power the superyacht with carbon-neutral fuel. As Mauricio Umansky, founder, and CEO of The Agency, stated in a press release, “With its thoughtfully designed residences, an endless array of amenities, and philanthropic and scientific purpose, buyers have the rare opportunity to live aboard one of the finest vessels ever constructed.”

Revolutionary Design: The Future of Superyachts Will Leave You Astonished

The Shape is a novel superyacht that has a “void” running along its body

A “gaping hole” in the middle of your boat may sound like a significant structural issue, but it’s actually the focal point of Shape, the new 226-foot superyacht concept by Lazzarini Design.

The customizable “void” is accessible via a door in the bow and is equipped with steps leading to the water for passengers. On the upper deck, there is also a glass-bottom infinity pool that descends into the hole and allows swimmers to observe those below.

Another view of Lazzarini Design’s The Shape

The stern features a sun deck and a diving platform, whereas the bow features 115 feet of living space distributed across three decks, with six luxury suites on the first level, shared crew living quarters on the second, and a command center, helipad, and private Jacuzzi on the third.

“Shape distinguishes itself by eschewing an unnecessarily intricate design in favor of a striking silhouette,” the studio says of the streamlined silver object.

“Because we placed a void within the concept’s superstructure, the living space has a luxurious quality.”

The 39-year-old Italian designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini is renowned for his whimsical and futuristic watercraft concepts, including his “jet capsules” and the 450-foot swan-inspired yacht concept avanguardia.

But Shape was also designed with sustainability in mind, with a hydrogen-powered propulsion system and a large solar panel on the sundeck to power all onboard systems.

Lexus Makes Waves with the Launch of Its Inaugural Superyacht

Since early 2017, the all-new Lexus superyacht had been in development

The Wisconsin yacht builder hesitated when Venice, Italy-based Nuvolari Lenard approached it with sleek interior design drawings for Lexus’s first yacht. Could conventional yacht design, which focuses on functionality, embrace this radical twist? Lexus is the first automaker to produce a vessel for sale (others have produced prototypes or designs). Before the official debut of the 65-foot LY 650 at this year’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (Oct. 30 – Nov. 1), two were purchased promptly. Four more are being manufactured.

The yacht constructors used carbon fiber–reinforced plastic and glass fiber–reinforced plastic to create a lightweight vessel

The concept vessel, which measures 18 feet and 11 inches at its broadest point, was introduced in January 2017 with a starting price of $3.7 million, but it was not unveiled until this month. The inaugural design features a two-tone rose-gold color scheme and an exterior available in five colors; the bow is sporty and pronounced, with a coupe-like roof. Marquis was selected as a partner in an effort to demonstrate the “gracefulness” of the Lexus brand, as Lexus’ chief branding manager and Toyota International president Akio Toyoda describes it. The hull consists of both CFRP (carbon fiber-reinforced plastic) and GFRP (glass-fiber-reinforced plastic) due to the yacht builders’ emphasis on constructing a lightweight, gravity-appropriate design.

Toyoda is a yacht enthusiast who enjoys disconnecting in the solitude of open water. Earlier this month, he stated at a press conference in Boca Raton, Florida, “I have no truly private space.” “Being on a yacht gives me that private space.”

A view inside one of the ship’s three compartments

And if you believe this is a marketing ploy by the automaker to have its logo on the water, you’re mistaken. “In every room, there is a special Lexus touch,” says Josh Delforge, vice president of design and engineering at Marquis Yacht. “It’s not just Lexus everywhere.” Curves abound on the LY 650, such as the rounded-edge platform bed in one stateroom (all three staterooms are on the lower level) and the narrow horizontal windows in the owner’s suite. Two of the three heads feature a smoked glass floating vessel basin, and each has a private shower.

In the stairwell between the staterooms and the salon is a built-in beverage center with a Miele coffee machine and temperature-controlled wine refrigerator, ensuring that beverages of choice are always accessible. Leather drawer pulls and white leather interior doors with an embedded Lexus-like wave pattern lend elegance. Other design elements include teak decking on the swim platform, cockpit, and aft side-deck walkways, as well as an optional eucalyptus wood interior.

Zaha Hadid’s Unique Circle Yachts Design Not for the Trypophobia

The sculptural form of a master prototype that was designed for a 128-meter yacht serves as the inspiration for the design concept that was presented at the most recent exhibition of Zaha Hadid’s work at the David Gill Gallery in London.

In addition, the Unique Circle Yachts are a family of five distinct 90-meter yachts designed by Zaha Hadid Architects for Blohm+Voss. These vessels creatively explore the design concepts of the master prototype while adhering to the mechanical requirements of a fully-engineered yacht design.

Research on hydrodynamics was used to shape the design of the hull, which was influenced by the overall design, which was guided by fluid dynamics and underwater habitats. The exoskeleton structure of the upper section is an interwoven network of supports that vary in thickness and lend a natural aesthetic to the exterior appearance of the yacht; evoking the organic structural systems of natural marine formations and connecting the various levels and decks of the ship seamlessly via expressive diagonals. The structure also lends a natural aesthetic to the interior of the yacht.

This exoskeleton generates an intense connectedness between the various decks and features of the design, in contrast to the rigorous horizontal order that is adhered to in typical yacht designs.

The flowing design language of the original prototype has been applied to the five successive 90-meter variations of the Unique Circle Yachts. This has resulted in the creation of a design that has the highest correlation possible between the many available alternatives.

The naval architects at Blohm+Voss have begun the process of technically specifying and detailing the five Unique Circle Yachts, and the first of these yachts to be worked on is the 90-meter JAZZ boat. It is clear that it descended from the 128-meter master prototype, however, additional technical improvements have been made to suit the requirements for transoceanic travel.

Inside the 133-Meter Expedition Yacht Lies Unbelievable Secrets That Leave Many Astonished

Norwegian superyacht designer Strand Craft, based in the United States, has unveiled its latest concept, the 133-meter explorer yacht Miami.

According to the studio, Miami is “aggressively styled” across six platforms and has a 20-metre beam. The yacht can also be “transformed into an open-air experience” due to the abundance of tenders and diversions stored in its garages.

The Miami has two helipads, one on the aft deck and one on the forward deck, each with its own hangar and lift access. On the aft deck, the yacht can accommodate two 17.6-meter tenders and two Mercedes G 6×6 off-road vehicles.

The yacht also features a sky lounge with 360-degree ocean views and 10 VIP cabins that can accommodate a total of 20 guests. This consists of a 300-square-meter suite with 180-degree views, an outdoor Jacuzzi, sun terrace, fitness centre, spa, office, library, and wine cellar.

In addition, there are a three-story nightclub with class floors and a private owner’s bar.

The personnel quarters, which will consist of cabins and a living area, will be located on the lower deck and will accommodate 44 crew members.

It follows Strand Craft’s unveiling of California, a 135-meter superyacht concept, and Aurora Borealis, a 122-meter explorer concept.

A Dazzling Masterpiece: Exploring the Spectacular Project Crystal, Nick Stark Design’s 94m Superyacht

Plans for a 94-meter superyacht idea called Project Crystal have been unveiled by Australian firm Nick Stark Design.

The superyacht’s “celebratory” aesthetic was inspired by the “striking crystalline lattice” that runs along its superstructure, hence the name.

He elaborated, saying, “The lines flow up and across, lifting our gaze and also guiding it to what is around us: the people, the community, and the environment.”

The boat has three pools: a private jacuzzi on the owner’s deck, a spa pool on the sundeck above with a transparent floor, and a pool in the aft deck party zone.

The inside of the owner’s deck feels even more spacious thanks to the sun deck spa’s transparent floor, as noted by Stark. “The atrium effect floods the lounge below with soothing and dynamic light,” the author writes.

Project Crystal will have a hybrid propulsion system, foredeck helipad, and 2500GT cabin, and was built with “swift global navigation” in mind.

“As with all our designs, the impact a vessel has on its context is crucial—environmental considerations extend from the controllable pitch propellers which maximize efficiency, through the hydrodynamic optimizations of the hull, hybrid power systems, and glazing arrangements that minimize solar gain,” Stark said.

The LXT88: A Supercar-Inspired 27m Concept Yacht by Naval Yachts

Naval Yachts, a Turkish shipyard, has unveiled a 27-meter supercar-inspired concept capable of 42 knots due to its twin MTU 1600 V12 engines.

The LXT88, which combines high-performance cruising with a striking appearance, was designed by Naval Yachts’ in-house design team to satisfy the needs of a current Naval Yachts client.

The forward Jacuzzi is one of the most distinguishing features of the superyacht, where visitors can cool off and take in the views. Barş Dinc, co-owner of Naval Yachts, remarked, “It is a great place to relax.” Even a small pool is a wonderful addition to a yacht of this length.

The LXT88 has three cabins and two personnel quarters. Additionally, the yacht features a primary saloon and dining area.

The client who inspired the design of this yacht is an avid supercar enthusiast, and the LXT88 takes numerous design elements from the world of luxury automobiles. The sides of the vessel feature carbon patterns, with sleek black grills on the stern and a low, predatory superstructure.

Aluminum would be used for construction to assure a lightweight structure and faster speeds. Additionally, aerodynamic engineering has been meticulously incorporated into the design to ensure the yacht’s efficacy while underway.

The shipyard said in a statement, “With our innovative design and models that keep up with the modern world, we continue to ensure that our customers can reach the horizons of their dreams in the most comfortable and safe manner.”

Soon after the announcement that the yard is rebuilding a Gulf Craft yacht under the project name Cavalli, the concept is unveiled.
