WWE icon The Undertaker offers to train McMahon family member (Exclusive)

The Undertaker, real name Mark Calaway, is one of WWE

The Undertaker, real name Mark Calaway, is one of WWE’s all-time greats

WWE legend The Undertaker recently received the inaugural Bill Apter Legacy Award, presented by Sportskeeda. In an exclusive interview, the 2022 Hall of Famer gave his thoughts on Shane McMahon’s son Declan hinting that he might become a wrestler.

While Declan McMahon currently plays college football for the Indiana Hoosiers, he has made no secret of his desire to join WWE. The 19-year-old even expressed an interest in possibly facing Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter, The Undertaker jokingly encouraged Declan McMahon to ignore his father’s wrestling advice. Instead, he would rather help the youngster himself:

“Declan, come find me,” The Undertaker said. “Don’t let your dad train you. Come find me and I’ll train you right [laughs]. I tell you what, I do know this from knowing the McMahons, if it’s in his heart and it’s in his mind and if he’s got any of his dad’s genes or his grandfather’s [Vince McMahon’s] genes, if he wants to make it in this industry, he will do well.” [7:34 – 8:00]

The Undertaker is good friends with Shane McMahon in real life. In 2016, the two faced each other in a Hell in a Cell match at WrestleMania 32. Declan McMahon participated in his father’s entrance before watching the bout from the front row.

In the video above, hear more from The Undertaker about politics, Vince McMahon, and the recent WWE sale.

What did Declan McMahon say about joining WWE?

According to Declan McMahon, he has all the attributes to become the latest member of his family to succeed in WWE. Another family member, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H’s daughter, Aurora, is also keen on joining the industry.

In a recent Developmentally Speaking interview, Declan McMahon claimed he would be more successful than Aurora and the other aspiring wrestlers in his family:

“We have such a great family, and you know, we are all so supportive of each other. So, I think really any of us would want to do it. I know Aurora, Paul’s daughter, Triple H’s oldest daughter, has always talked about wanting to do it and having my dad and my grandpa’s ego, you know, I think I’d be the best. So, you know!”

Special thanks to Trapper Tom Leturgey for filming Bill Apter’s interview with The Undertaker.

Dwayne Johnson’s move to Hollywood was criticized by John Cena as being “selfish and short-sighted.”

Dwayne Johnson’s move to Hollywood was criticized by John Cena as being “selfish and short-sighted.”

Peaceмaker’s John Cena talks aboυt his feυd with fellow WWE star Dwayne Johnson.

Faмed WWE wrestler and actor John Cena recently opened υp aboυt his beef with Dwayne Johnson.

Dυring the WWE Fastlane Press Conference, John Cena was asked aboυt his relationship with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson after Cena criticized hiм for focυsing on acting rather than wrestling.

Given that Cena woυld later мake the saмe career decision, qυestions arose whether Cena saw his own relative hypocrisy or not. Dυring the press conference, Cena stated, “I violated [Johnson’s] trυst and I мade allegations aboυt his perspective that I knew nothing aboυt.

And deep down, I was a fan. I wanted The Rock back [in WWE]. I wanted to do anything to get The Rock back, bυt I did it the wrong way.” He addressed the issυe earlier this year as well, calling hiмself “short-sighted and selfish” on the topic in an episode of the Happy Sad Podcast.

WWE Wrestlers to Hollywood Heroes

Cena and Johnson have gone froм being recognizable WWE stars to wildly faмoυs actors and pυblic figures. Althoυgh Johnson мade his Hollywood shift earlier than Cena, the latter woυld later follow in the forмer’s footsteps.

The dυo has had a decent aмoυnt of overlap as well; both actors played мain characters in blockbυster DC filмs, with Cena tapped to play Peaceмaker for the Sυicide Sqυad filмs and Johnson playing the titlυlar character in Black Adaм Cena woυld also go on to join the series that мade Johnson a Hollywood staple, the Fast and Fυrioυs franchise. Johnson, who stars as Hobbs, was joined by Cena in Fast X

Cena’s dedication to wrestling was мade clear in his initial jabs at Johnson, bυt he fυrther elaborated on the issυe of trying to act and wrestle siмυltaneoυsly. He went on to say, “I’ve мade it clear that yoυ can’t do both becaυse of the liability insυrance. If I were to try and jυggle both, that’s very selfish becaυse I woυld pυt a whole lot of people in the мovie bυsiness oυt of work if soмething were to happen to мe.”

Additionally, Cena discυssed his fυtυre in both indυstries. The SAG-AFTRA strike has pυt Cena’s acting work on hold, bυt he clarified that he will be retυrning to his developing project once he can. As for wrestling, Cena told interviewers, “There is no denying the fact that I’м 46 and staring down 47. I’ve been here for over two decades. As I said oυt there in the ring, the last one is not tonight, bυt I know it’s soon.”

While Cena and Johnson’s fυtυre in wrestling reмains aмbigυoυs, aυdiences can still catch Cena as Peaceмaker in the show’s second υpcoмing season.

10 potential matches for CM Punk’s ‘back pocket’ WWE WrestleMania return

GIVEMESPORT has listed 10 potential matches for CM Punk if he does make his ‘back pocket’ return to WWE for WrestleMania XL

With Survivor Series in Chicago taking place next weekend, rumours surrounding a CM Punk return to WWE seem stronger than ever. What once seemed impossible now feels like a waiting game, and while there are conflicting reports and nothing official, many viewers across the world are letting themselves believe that we could hear ‘Cult Of Personality’ blast through the speakers at the United Center as the hometown star steps into a WWE ring for the first time in almost a decade.

However, it seems like Punk’s return to WWE may not take place this month, as an update on the Wrestling Observer suggested that WWE would rather have their former star return at WrestleMania XL next year, and feel that they have him ‘in their back pocket’ for the show.

So, with 2023 coming to an end and 2024 right around the corner, GIVEMESPORT looks at ten people CM Punk could end up sharing the ring at WrestleMania XL with if he does end up making his return to WWE in time for the ‘show of shows’ next year.

10. Kevin Owens

We begin with Kevin Owens, someone who has recently been traded from Raw to SmackDown and is currently in need of a new direction. All year, the former Universal Champion had been embroiled in a seemingly endless feud with Judgment Day over the Undisputed WWE Tag Titles, however, the brand switch has brought his popular tag team with Sami Zayn to a temporary close.

In the weeks following, the Canadian has given interviews talking about who on the SmackDown roster he’d like to face, but there has been nothing apart from a backstage comedy segment with Austin Theory and Grayson Waller to this point. So, if WWE really wants to have Punk take on an available star around ‘Mania season, a clash between them would certainly be a worthwhile use of both of them.

Let’s not forget, around two months ago, it was revealed by Fightful that Punk had actually pitched a return to WWE around the time of this year’s Royal Rumble, while he was still serving a suspension for his physical altercation with The Elite at All Out. Here, we learned that the Chicagoan was actually very interested in beginning a feud with Owens which would culminate in a match at WrestleMania 39. The idea is certainly something that Triple H could choose to come back to.

9. Drew McIntyre

On the November 13 episode of Raw, Drew McIntyre completed his highly-anticipated heel turn when he joined forced with Judgement Day and cost Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes in their Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship match.

The Scotsman has explained on TV since his return at SummerSlam 2023 how he’s frustrated with how he won his first ever WWE Championship, as he feels hard done by the fact that his entire run was in front of no fans. It’s no secret that Drew carried the company on his back during one of the hardest periods in its history, but his shift is yet to be rewarded with a title reign with audiences in attendance.

This has led to McIntyre having his eyes set on any top championship he can get an opportunity at. His last attempted came at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia, where he beaten by the World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, as many were left feeling as if growing frustration would lead to a heel turn for the 38-year-old down the line.

So, could you imagine CM Punk costing McIntyre his next shot at gold? The 2020 Royal Rumble Winner could take exception to Punk walking back into the fold at the top of the card despite all he did through the pandemic and look to take the ‘Straight Edge Saviour’ out in a heated feud.

8. Stone Cold Steve Austin

It’s the dream match that actually nearly happened. Both Punk and Austin are characters that are firmly anti-establishment and are viewed as antiheroes by the fans who have loved seeing them both stick it to the man in more ways than one. Of course, Austin’s rivalry with Mr. McMahon is the clearest example of challenging authority that wrestling has ever seen, where Punk’s undermining of power blurred the lines of kayfabe much more. The Chicago native’s dislike for WWE’s internal processes often seeped into their on-screen product.

What a match between two men who refuse to go down without a fight would look like is unknown, but, as mentioned, this is a clash that almost came to be. The company themselves teased the possibility of Austin vs Punk numerous times over the years, having them appear in the same backstage in 2011 when it became abundantly clear just how much chemistry there was between the two. They also

When Punk was last in WWE, a match was Stone Cold was considered completely impossible due to the latter’s injury-forced retirement in 2003. Though, WrestleMania 39 showed us that Steve Austin had at least one more match left in him as he battled Owens to close night one in front of his hometown crowd. With the ‘Voice of The Voiceless’ potentially coming back into the fray, maybe ‘The Rattlesnake’ could be tempted out of retirement one more time to deliver this fantasy match-up.

7. Seth Rollins

It would be fair to say that Seth Rollins is the face of Monday Night Raw. The current World Heavyweight Champion has held the red brand’s top title since May 27 and has quickly established his gold as the workhorse championship. He is always keen to give opportunities to the younger talent and his developed into a locker room leader.

While Seth Rollins and CM Punk have faced off in the past, they are both drastically different from when ‘The Visionary’ was a member of The Shield, taking Punk on in late-2013. They’ve had many one-on-one matches on Raw previously but never on a big stage. Plus, as their clashes were around a decade ago, the Chicago-native was nearing the end of his WWE run and nowhere near the peak of his powers through injury and being generally unhappy with the company.

Whether the title is on the line or Seth comes into it as a defeated champion who’s lost his belt, a match between he and Punk would always feel big. Rollins, who stepped up in the years following the 45-year-old’s departure, could take umbrage with the fact that his opponent came back to the place he spent a decade slandering, with Punk using the Seth feud to prove that he still belongs in WWE.

6. John Cena

Throughout his first WWE run, Punk made it clear to anyone who would listen that he didn’t like how the company put John Cena on a pedestal. He even made mention of this during his infamous pipebomb promo, when he said that, while he didn’t necessarily dislike John himself, he hated the idea that Vince McMahon and those running the company believed that Cena was the best they had.

Punk’s contempt for how WWE was run built up until he left the company and industry as a whole in 2014, while Cena remained a top star both in the ring and in Hollywood. The 16-time world champion has recently been enjoying his most recent stint in the squared circle, last appearing at Crown Jewel in a losing effort against Solo Sikoa, however, post-match Cena appeared to tease retirement. So, before that day comes, why not put on one more match against ‘The Best in The World’ at WrestleMania?

The difference this time would be that the sentiment towards WWE has changed over the last 18 months, as fans are now much more happy with the on-screen product than they were 10 years ago. So, perhaps Punk’s stance against those who run the show would come across far more bitter than in the past, with Cena playing up the ultimate ‘company man’ babyface character to get the win.

5. Cody Rhodes

When CM Punk first came into AEW in 2021, fans were salivating over the potential match-ups he could have there. The former WWE Champion began his time in AEW by taking on some of their young up-and-comers like Daniel Garcia and Powerhouse Hobbs, but what fans will really remember is his pay-per-view classics with the likes of Eddie Kingston and MJF.

However, one match we didn’t get was Cody Rhodes. Admittedly, with Punk coming in during the summer of 2021 and Rhodes opting to leave the company in January of the next year, there was never a lot of time to tick off the match. But, the two-time AEW World Champion returning to WWE would arguably be the biggest statement that the company have made since poaching Cody from Tony Khan almost two years ago, so a clash between the two under Triple H’s creative guide could be magical.

One pushback on the idea of this match could potentially be deciding which of the two men would play the face and heel roles, as Cody is undoubtedly one of the top good guys that WWE have and fans will be reluctant to boo Punk so close to his return. So, should they line up to face one another, it would be fair to let the audience individually choose who they want to support and creative a raucous atmosphere to back up what would be an awesome match.

4. Jey Uso

When Punk was last in the WWE, very few would’ve predicted the rise of Jey Uso. At the time, the pair of Uso brothers had been in the company for a couple of years and were only just starting to find their feet. In the years that followed, the team would go on to win eight sets of tag titles in the company and firmly put themselves in the conversation for the best tag team that WWE have ever had.

The feud could be based around the possibility that Punk hasn’t been tuned into the product while he’s been away, only returning to keep his own spark alive after his AEW exit. This causes him to drastically underestimate any sort of challenge that he receives from Jey, who in his mind is still one-half of The Usos and not someone to take seriously in a one-on-one environment.

What better way is there to establish ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso as the real deal than having CM Punk put him over clean on the grandest stage. It can be competitive, but it would be absolutely huge for the tag team specialist to earn a decisive victory against some as notable as the two-time WWE Champion, and it would be the perfect use of Punk now that he is a veteran of the business.

3. AJ Styles

AJ Styles is someone who many fans thought they’d never see in WWE until his mind-blowing debut in 2016. He tattooed his name on the side of his body to stop any possible name changes, and, due to Vince McMahon’s desire to alter almost everything about outside stars, many assumed former WWE Champion would simply never sign with the wrestling giant. So, should it be an option, WWE fans could get to watch a man they never thought they’d see come in take on a legend they never thought they’d see again.

They’re both synonymous with certain eras of wrestling, too. Punk’s work in Ring of Honor through the mid-2000s is what first alerted WWE to his talent, and you can’t think of TNA without AJ Styles coming to mind. The Phenomenal One worked for Total Nonstop Action for 12 years between 2002 and 2014 and both men have travelled down similar roads in terms of work outside of the top company in America.

Plus, the recent reports on a potential WWE return for Punk specify that Triple H would look to see who on his roster was available at the time. Styles is someone who has only made sporadic appearances on SmackDown as of late, and, despite teasing the possibility of challenging Roman Reigns, AJ hasn’t been a regular fixture on weekly TV for a while and a match with CM Punk could be exactly what he’s looking for.

2. Bron Breakker

Bron Breakker is perhaps the top prodigy that WWE has signed to a developmental contract. He was the guy that they put the most focus on upon the introduction of NXT 2.0 and has had two reigns with the brand’s top title. Now, while firmly a heel, the 26-year-old star is running through any man that Shawn Michaels puts in front of him.

It’s gotten to the point at which most viewers are waiting for Bron to appear on either Raw or SmackDown. The majority agree that Breakker is main roster ready, but, to capitalise on his villainous character in the best way, a lot of people are already fantasy booking a dominant unbeaten run for him in the future.

When it comes to CM Punk, one of the most memorable lines from his infamous post-show media scrum in 2022 was when he said that he was old, tired and worked with children. To play off of that, Triple H could Breakker represent the next generation of WWE superstars by taking down a 45-year-old CM Punk. If you really wanted Bron to make a statement, he could squash the Chicagoan in a very one-sided affair at the 40th annual WrestleMania.

RELATED:Another Phrase Vince McMahon ‘Hated’ Being Used On WWE TV

1. Roman Reigns

It’s almost inarguable that the biggest match WWE could put on with CM Punk back on their roster would be a showdown between the Voice of The Voiceless and The Tribal Chief. Both men have worked Paul Heyman in order to secure record-breaking title reigns, with Punk initially setting the record for the modern era 434 days, and Reigns surpassing this with his Universal Championship run that has lasted for over three years and is still going today.

It’s insane to think about how, at the time that Roman Reigns title run began, Punk was still a year away his AEW debut and now we’re linking him to a WWE return and a match with their top star at WrestleMania. As discussed in Seth Rollins’ entry, Punk and Roman will have clashed before when the 45-year-old was feuding with The Shield, but so much has changed since then and The Head of The Table is seemingly unbeatable nowadays.

Many are expecting Reigns’ challenger at WrestleMania 40 to be Cody Rhodes, a repeat of this year’s main event in which The American Nightmare gets the win. Though, Roman has proved that absolutely anything can happen in his reign, so could you imagine how insane it would be to have CM Punk be the one to step up and challenge for WWE’s top prize once again in just six months time.

Triple H interested in bringing ‘one of the greatest wrestlers ever’ to WWE

Triple H is interested in bringing someone to WWE who is widely regarded as ‘one of the greatest wrestlers ever’

After Triple H took control of WWE following Vince McMahon’s exit last summer, things have been a little different within the company. ‘The Game’ has re-placed focus on in-ring talent for the most part and has looked around the globe to bring in some of the most talented wrestlers around.

Dragon Lee is just one example of a very talented wrestler that the company recruited recently, and with WWE currently interested in Will Ospreay, that focus doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon.

However, it isn’t just the best wrestlers of today that Triple H wants to bring to WWE, as it’s emerged that the company is actually wanting to sign someone who is widely regarded as one of the best wrestlers of all time, Kazuchika Okada.

READ MORE:CM Punk Teases Returns To Both WWE & AEW In Cryptic Social Media PostsIt’s refreshing to see WWE prioritising talented stars again after years of looking elsewhere. It’s a sign of a promising future under Triple H’s rule, and he’s not just looking at bringing in some talented prospects, but also some of the most talented wrestlers on the planet. With rumours of CM Punk’s return, things could get very interesting in WWE in the near future and, as reports have begun to surface about the company’s interest in another superstar, it can only get better.

Triple H wants Kazuchika Okada to join WWE

There are few wrestlers on the planet with the CV that Kazuchika Okada has amassed over the years, and now WWE is interested in bringing the Japanese icon into the company. The 36-year-old has spent almost his entire career with New Japan Pro Wrestling and, in the process, he became one of the most impressive talents to ever step foot inside the squared circle.

The sheer number of all-time great matches that Okada has had with the likes of Kenny Omega and Tetsuya Naito are enough to get anyone excited and the notion of him eventually joining WWE is an intriguing one. Once dubbed ‘one of the greatest wrestlers in the world’ by Ospreay, the 36-year-old would be a huge acquisition for Triple H, and it’s easy to see why the ‘Cerebral Assassin’ is so keen to work with him.

Shinsuka Nakamura could help WWE sign Kazuchika Okada

News of the interest was first reported by Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, who explained that people within WWE have told him that there’s serious interest in Okada right now.

That’s not all, as the report also explains that Shinsuke Nakamura, who is receiving a push as of late in WWE, could be a big factor in whether or not Okada actually signs for the wrestling giant…
“We’ve heard some talk of late regarding Kazuchika Okada. Obviously, they’ve had interest in him for years. But he’s always been loyal to New Japan. The pitch is that he’s now 36, and he’s close with Nakamura, Nakamura has worked for years in WWE, and it’s far easier on his body.
It’s been stressed that Triple H is looking to push Nakamura to prove to Okada that the new regime is going to take Japanese wrestlers seriously, something that simply didn’t happen when Vince McMahon was running the show.

WWE is the one thing Okada has never done, and he’s done everything he can do in NJPW. One person who buzzed us about the renewed interest in Okada said that one of the reasons Nakamura is getting a renewed push is to show that this regime is not going to treat Japanese like the stereotypical children-like role because Vince does that with people who don’t speak fluent English.
The notion that Shinsuke Nakamura’s recent reinvigorated push within WWE could be a mere ploy to entice Okada is a shocking one, but there’s no denying that the former Intercontinental Champion has been treated much better recently. Having already worked with both TNA Impact and AEW, WWE does feel like the last major promotion that Okada hasn’t done business with.

Whether he wants to or not is a completely different question, but the fact that there’s interest from WWE means they’re going to give it a good go at bringing him through the doors and who knows, we might be hearing that iconic coin drop on a major Premium Live Event in the near future.

WWE: Gunther reveals his thoughts on challenging Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns for a World Championship

After 376 days with the Intercontinental Championship, Gunther was asked if he has any plans to jump over to the Heavyweight division.

WWE, Gunther, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Tommaso Ciampa,

After holding the Intercontinental Championship for 376 days and counting, coming just 78 days short of the Honkytonk Man’s record of 454, it’s only natural for fans and professional wrestling pundits alike to wonder if the time is right for Gunther to step out of the comfort zone and take a shot at one of WWE’s world championships, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship currently held by Seth Rollins, or the Universal Championship that’s been held by Roman Reigns for over three years.Fortunately, Steve Fall actually asked the “Ring General” about wrestling Reigns and Rollins for their titles, and to his credit, Gunther actually gave a pretty definitive answer, letting the long-time wrestling journalist know that when it comes to the “Tribal Chief,” he’s on a very different path at the moment.

“That’s a good question. I think that’s an interesting one down the line too. I think right now we’re very far apart from each other in what we have to do. We’re on different brands. Roman is on this never seen before title reign. I myself, I’m in the midst of making history.

So once all that is said and done, we’ll see if that’s gonna happen,” Gunther said via 411 Mania. ” In terms of the Royal Rumble, yes. It was a very long struggle being in first and then failing at the end, but just by an inch. At the end overall, I think that was a very important night for me in my career, because I think it was very unexpected. So yeah, I think I rebounded very good from that, and we’ll see what happens at the next Royal Rumble.”

Asked about Rollins too, and whether or not he’d be willing to get in the ring with “The Visionary” to see who really deserves the title of RAW‘s Workhorse Champion, Gunther noted that he has no interest in merging his title with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, as he views the two performers as being in two different divisions of this great sport.

“If I’m still the Intercontinental Champion, which I’m planning to be, I do not think so actually,” Gunther said via Fightful. “The new World Heavyweight Championship just got introduced, so I think there is no interest by anyone to merge that again with another title, which [a match between the two] kind of automatically would do. I think we’re in two different divisions right now when it comes to that, but down the line, everything is possible, I would say.”

Eventually, the day will come when Gunther is no longer the Intercontinental Champion; though his reign hasn’t been perfect, especially at the beginning, Imperium has steadily grown into one of the more popular heel factions in a promotion chock-full of popular heel factions, a fact made all the more impressive when you consider they have exclusively shared rosters with The Bloodline and The Judgment Day since debuting on the main roster.

When that day comes, don’t be too surprised to see Gunther challenging for one of, if not both of WWE’s World Championships, as he’s just too good to slide back into the mid-card without his stock being considerably elevated by a prolific IC Title reign.

Gunther reveals his preferred opponent for SummerSlam.

Elsewhere in his appearance on Ten Count with Steve Fall, Gunther was asked if there are any performers he actually would like to wrestle this summer at SummerSlam, the “Ring General” explained that he’s still weighing his options but is ultimately open to any challengers who come his way.

“To be honest, I think there’s — especially since we just got drafted to Raw, I think there’s a lot of fresh matchups that could be done,” Gunther said via Fightful. “I think I’m in a position right now where there’s a target on my back, and it’s on everybody else to come after me. I don’t have to identify people that I want to go after. That’s not the position I’m in. So yeah, let’s see, I’m open to any challenge. I’m here to be in the ring with the best to face-to-face competition, to have the biggest possible challenge.”

Alright, so Gunther is open to any challenger… just so long as they aren’t Seth Rollins or Roman Reigns; got it.

Ultimately, after exhausting many of the IC Title challenge options on SmackDown, it’s awesome to see Gunther make his way over to RAW, as it presents all sorts of new, fun, intriguing matches for the “Ring General.”

After already working a fantastic television match with Kevin Owens earlier this month that shockingly only received a four-star rating from Dave Meltzer, it’s clear Gunther can work a good match with pretty much anyone and can really elevate things into something special if the right performer answers his call. Gunther-Tommaso Ciampa II anyone?

Triple H may have record broken as ‘payback’ after ex-WWE star signs for AEW

Triple H may decide to have a record broken as ‘payback’ after an ex-WWE star signs for AEW

Ric Flair recently made headlines after signing a multi-year deal with Tony Khan’s AEW after WWE apparently nixed the Hall of Famer’s pitch to return to the company. The 16-time World Champion now finds himself part of Sting’s retirement storyline, but that won’t be all, as Flair also revealed that he hopes to have a lengthy run in AEW as a heel and potentially even a manager. While it was WWE who said no to Flair, there’s a belief that perhaps Triple H and the team may look for ‘payback’ against the legendary wrestler for joining the competition.

The ex-WWE star suggested that Triple H may choose to have John Cena, one of the greatest WWE Superstars of all time, break Flair’s legendary 16-time World Champion record as a ‘punishment’ for signing with Tony Khan’s company.

Triple H could ‘punish’ Ric Flair for joining AEW

Bully Ray recently appeared on an episode of Busted Open Radio and chimed in on a number of interesting news topics currently circulating in the world of professional wrestling. The 52-year-old, who is a wrestling legend in his own right, was inevitably asked to comment on his thoughts of Ric Flair signing with AEW, which has been massive news in the wrestling business these past few weeks.

Bully went on to state that he believes that WWE could potentially break Ric Flair’s legendary 16-time World Championship record, almost as a punishment for signing with AEW. In the past, WWE has always appeared hesitant to have anyone surpass Flair’s timeless record, but that could change.

Right now, there are only a handful of other WWE Superstars who come close to matching Flair’s record; John Cena, who ties with Flair at 16 reigns, Triple H and Randy Orton, who are tied at 14 reigns each, and Flair’s own daughter, Charlotte, who has 14 main roster World Championship victories to her name, not including her NXT title reigns, which WWE doesn’t recognise.

RELATED:Claim That Feuding With Roman Reigns ‘Kills Careers’Sting also has 15 World Championship victories in his illustrious career, but WWE doesn’t recognise his reigns over in TNA or World Wrestling Allstars. With Triple H being retired, Orton being on the shelf and Sting approaching retirement in another company, that leaves Cena and Charlotte as the only possible candidates.

John Cena could win his 17th World Championship

Ray himself believes that the most likely candidates to surpass Flair’s record right now are John Cena, who Bully Ray believes could defeat Seth Rollins to claim his 17th World Championship, and Charlotte Flair, who is already on track to surpass her father’s record, which could now be moved off following his move to AEW.

If WWE has any kind of bug up it’s a** because Flair went to AEW, you might see the WWE put John Cena in a position to break Flair’s record. You know who this actually benefits? Charlotte. Daddy’s shadow’s not around right now for the next few years.

WWE is going to go: ‘We stood by you. We never put anybody else in a position to break your record. But now you’ve decided to take your talents elsewhere to a company that has created a little bit of problems for the WWE. Well, now maybe one of our guys needs to become the GOAT of all GOATs and the most decorated World Champion of all time.

It has to be said that the current head of WWE’s creative team, Triple H, is a huge fan and good friend of Flair, so it looks unlikely that ‘The Game’ himself would be the one to pull the trigger on breaking Ric’s record out of spite.

However, with Vince McMahon still assuming plenty of power, there is always a chance that the ex-WWE Chairman would get the final say on someone like Cena, who McMahon has always been a huge fan of, surpassing Flair’s record.

Speaking of records, current WWE Intercontinental Champion, Gunther, recently surpassed The Honky Tonk Man’s record by becoming the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time, so it doesn’t look like the WWE is currently against surpassing iconic records at this stage in the company’s lifetime, and replacing those records with current era superstars who will, of course, become the legends of tomorrow.

Kurt Angle Reveals There’s A Movie About His Life Story In The Works

Angle is working as an advisor on the project that starts filming next year.

It seems we may well be on the cusp of a wrestling biopic boom. Even though the Vince McMahon project, in which Bradley Cooper was rumored to be playing the WWE chairman, seems to have been shelved, The Iron Claw hits cinemas next month and received a lot of praise following its premiere. The film details the highs and unbelievable lows of the Von Erichs. As for that boom, Kurt Angle has got a movie of his own in the works.

A Kurt Angle Movie

The Olympic gold medalist revealed during an appearance on True Geordie that he’s an advisor on a movie about his life story. “I got a movie we’re doing about my life story, which we’re gonna start filming probably next year,” Angle revealed (H/T to Fightful for the transcription). “It should be a pretty cool thing. I’ll be able to help out with it, be an advisor, which is kind of cool. So I’m looking forward to that.”

Angle has definitely had a life that will likely translate well when turned into a movie. Kicking things off with winning gold for the US at the 1996 Olympics, Angle made the move into pro wrestling and enjoyed one of the most successful careers in WWE and TNA history.

Taking to the business faster than anyone before or since, I’m assuming the film will also focus heavily on Angle’s battles with addiction, something he has been very open about during interviews and on his podcast.

Who Will Play Kurt?

Now speculation on who will play Angle, and any other wrestlers who might appear in the movie, can begin. Angle actually has quite a few acting credits of his own, a prominent role in Tom Hardy’s Warrior among them.

While I’m sure he’ll make a cameo in the movie, Angle doesn’t appear to be keen on playing himself. If Chad Gable has any interest in sidestepping into Hollywood at some point, he would absolutely be my pick, at least for the parts of the film that recreate Angle’s in-ring moments.

There are a lot of incredibly interesting stories that can be dramatized and retold on the big screen in the wrestling business, and I truly hope The Iron Claw kickstarts a trend when it hits cinemas next month. Non-wrestling fans really aren’t prepared for the story that film will tell. Angle’s life story isn’t quite as dark as that, but there will undoubtedly be some heartwrenching moments in a movie retelling the events of his life

Randy Orton is finally returning to Monday Night RAW before Survivor Series next week, WWE Universe predicts

Will Randy Orton return to WWE RAW next week?

Will Randy Orton return to WWE RAW next week?

The WWE Universe is convinced Randy Orton will be making his return to the upcoming episode of RAW for the first time since May 16 last year.

The Viper has been on the shelf for almost 18 months, having last competed on the May 20 episode of SmackDown in 2022. The RK-Bro team lost their RAW Tag Team Championship to The Usos in a title unification match that night. The two men were viciously attacked by The Bloodline in the post-match, thus helping write Randy Orton off the television so that he could nurse his back injury.

Now that he’s seemingly fit and back at the performance center, fans have been eagerly waiting to see him on their television screens. Recent reports have insinuated that The Apex Predator is expected to join Team Rhodes in his upcoming WarGames match against The Judgment Day at Survivor Series.

His impending return became more apparent this week when The Scottish Warrior turned heel to join forces with The Judgment Day. After the show went off the air, The American Nightmare teased bringing in his friend, fueling speculation that the name in question might be none other than Randy Orton.

Earlier today, WWE made an apparent botch on their official Instagram handle, posting the 43-year-old stalwart’s throwback clip of him giving an RKO to Hunico. In the caption, it read, “You just never know when an RKO is going to pop up #SurvivorSeries.”

The company shortly changed its caption to “Gets us every time 🙌🔥 #SurvivorSeries.” The company may have accidentally spilled the beans on Orton’s comeback ahead of Survivor Series: WarGames.

Wrestling fans on Twitter are now hoping to see The Legend Killer back on Monday Night programming as early as next week. Check out some of the reactions below:

Randy Orton tipped to face a controversial WWE Superstar

Speaking on the latest edition of Writing with Russo, the ex-WWE head writer Vince Russo pitched the idea of The Viper facing current United States Champion Logan Paul at WrestleMania next year:
“I have one person that I think would be very, very interesting. But you want to keep the belt on Logan Paul, so it’s got to be somebody he goes over. Hmm, interesting to me would be Randy Orton. That would be interesting, okay?”

Russo, however, noted that the company may not want to book Orton to lose against Paul if the match ever takes place in the future.
