Cutting-Edge Aerial Reconnaissance: Come Back Alive Foundation Enhances Ukrainian Intelligence with PD-2 Drones

The Come Back Alive Foundation provided the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine with the PD-2 reconnaissance UAV.

The Foundation reported about this.

Along with the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine received a mobile command post based on a four-wheel drive minibus.

The cost of the PD-2 system, consisting of 2 UAVs, a mobile control post, a ground station, and spare parts, is UAH 29.2 million.

This is the second Ukrainian-made PD-2 reconnaissance unmanned system to be handed over to the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine. The first system was delivered in May 2023.

A four-wheel drive minibus with a built-in control post, retrofitted by the Foundation, will provide comfortable working conditions for PD-2 operators in various weather conditions.

“Cold, heat or other weather conditions will not prevent the DIU aerial reconnaissance from fulfilling their main task – to search for enemy rear and command posts or other targets behind the front line. And then something will explode there,” the Foundation emphasized.

The Come Back Alive Foundation notes that PD-2 is one of the best Ukrainian unmanned aerial systems in its segment. It has a man-directed flight radius of up to 180 km, endurance of up to 12 hours, and is able to track the movement of moving targets.

Each drone has an optical sensor with a 30x zoom for daytime mode and a 5x zoom for thermal imaging. The PD-2 drone can clearly identify the target coordinates in the frame at a distance of more than 5 kilometers.

Six PD-2 systems donated by the Foundation have already been deployed in various units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

Last year, the Foundation purchased 11 such systems: 10 were purchased for over UAH 300 million at the expense of donations to the general accounts of the charity, and the IT community and the foundation’s partners raised funds for one more.

In October, the Armed Forces of Ukraine also received PD-2 reconnaissance UAVs from the Come Back Alive Foundation.
