France handed over the first batch of military aid to the National Army of Moldova.
The Ministry of Defense of Moldova reported on this today.
The aid from the French Ministry of the Armed Forces arrived in Chisinau on Friday, November 10.
The cargo was delivered by an A400M military transport aircraft of the French Air and Space Force.
The first batch of military aid includes personal equipment, logistics, light infantry weapons, and ammunition.
This assistance from the French Republic is provided to strengthen the defense capabilities of the Republic of Moldova as part of the modernization of the country’s National Army.
The Ministry of Defense of Moldova reported that the equipment is intended for ground troops and will ensure the compatibility of the Moldovan military with the armies of the European Union and NATO during joint exercises and missions.
It should be noted that the assistance is provided as a result of statements of support for French President Emmanuel Macron at the European Political Community summit held on June 1 in the Republic of Moldova, as well as after the visit of the French Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu to Chisinau in September 2023.
Moldova and France cooperate in the field of defense based on the Agreement between the defense institutions of the two countries, signed in Paris on July 15, 1998.
Recently, Moldovan Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi and his French counterpart, Sébastien Lecornu, agreed to strengthen the partnership between the two countries by signing a bilateral document of intent.
The defense ministries of the two countries are expected to sign a new military cooperation agreement soon.
Militarnyi previously reported that Moldova plans to purchase a French Ground Master 200 radar from Thales Group.
