Revolutionary Design: The Future of Superyachts Will Leave You Astonished

The Shape is a novel superyacht that has a “void” running along its body

A “gaping hole” in the middle of your boat may sound like a significant structural issue, but it’s actually the focal point of Shape, the new 226-foot superyacht concept by Lazzarini Design.

The customizable “void” is accessible via a door in the bow and is equipped with steps leading to the water for passengers. On the upper deck, there is also a glass-bottom infinity pool that descends into the hole and allows swimmers to observe those below.

The stern features a sun deck and a diving platform, whereas the bow features 115 feet of living space distributed across three decks, with six luxury suites on the first level, shared crew living quarters on the second, and a command center, helipad, and private Jacuzzi on the third.

“Shape distinguishes itself by eschewing an unnecessarily intricate design in favor of a striking silhouette,” the studio says of the streamlined silver object.

“Because we placed a void within the concept’s superstructure, the living space has a luxurious quality.”

The 39-year-old Italian designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini is renowned for his whimsical and futuristic watercraft concepts, including his “jet capsules” and the 450-foot swan-inspired yacht concept avanguardia.

But Shape was also designed with sustainability in mind, with a hydrogen-powered propulsion system and a large solar panel on the sundeck to power all onboard systems.
