The couple has sang and rapped about their relationship over the years.

Jay-Z and Beyonce are a notoriously private couple. But when it comes to their music, the two open up in a way that’s refreshing to fans and tabloid culture alike.

Their latest projects, “4:44” and “Lemonade,” shed light on a once-troubled marriage. Jay-Z recently revealed in a New York Times interview that the two albums were birthed from joint recording sessions.

“We were using our art almost like a therapy session. And we started making music together,” he said. “Lemonade” was released first because it was closer to completion and he said it felt like “she should go first and share her truth.”

On “Lemonade,” released in April 2016 to much fanfare, Beyonce shares the story of a woman catching a cheating lover who was being “cavalier” with his infidelity. The woman, who leaves her husband, later finds the strength to forgive.

Jay-Z’s album, a 13-track record released 14 months later, is equally revealing. The album’s title track tells the painful story of a woman being cheated on with Jay rapping, “I apologize, often womanize … I don’t deserve you.”

It’s not the first time the couple have opened up in song lyrics. Before the two walked down the aisle in 2008, Jay-Z’s 2001 hit “Song Cry” and Beyonce’s 2004 hit “Resentment” also touched on the issues in their relationship.

Here’s a breakdown of the A-list couple’s once-troubled marriage — from infidelity to forgiveness in their own words, using songs from their latest albums.

“Pray You Can Catch Me”

On “Lemonade’s” opening song, Beyonce introduces us to a hurting woman who’s almost unrecognizable. Standing in a field, wearing a black hoodie to cover up her signature golden curls, Bey is lurking. In this heart-wrenching ballad, she sings: “You can taste the dishonesty/It’s all over your breath as you pass it off so cavalier.” Beyonce is watching her man cheat on her and she wants him to know that she knows. She’s tired of hiding his secret. “I’m prayin’ you catch me listening,” she sings.

“Kill JAY-Z”

“4:44’s” opening track explains why Jay-Z decided to talk about his marriage’s infidelity finally. “Cry Jay-Z, we know the pain is real/But you can’t heal what you never reveal,” he raps. Later in the song, he makes it plain: “Let the baddest girl in the world get away/I don’t even know what else to say … I don’t even know what you woulda done.”

“Hold Up”

On Beyonce’s second visual album, the singer — now wearing yellow, her golden hair swinging down her back — is nearly skipping down the street, seeking revenge. “Hold up/They don’t love you like I love you,” she sings, almost as a warning.

If you get lost in the sweet reggae vibe of the song, you may miss the anger, which is clearly on display in the video. Beyonce swings a baseball bat into a yellow fire hydrant, a car window and even a security camera. No one is catching her.

“4:44”

Many called the title track to Jay-Z’s album a response to his wife Beyonce’s “Lemonade” album. On this song in particular, he raps: “I apologize often womanize/Took for my child to be born/See through a woman’s eyes/Took for these natural twins to believe in miracles/Took me too long for this song/I don’t deserve you.” The rapper also said he was “emotionless” during their relationship before apologizing again.

“Don’t Hurt Yourself”

Beyonce gets help from rocker Jack White on this “Lemonade” song, which she sings in a garage. Still angry and wearing a fur, Bey sings, “Who the f— do you think I is?/You ain’t married to no average b—-, boy.” It seems her man isn’t willing to reconcile just yet, even though he’s caught as Bey sings, “Beautiful man, I know you’re lying/I am not broken, I’m not crying, I’m not crying/You ain’t trying hard enough.”

“Sorry”

The tables have turned in this uptempo track. Now, Beyonce just wants to dance her cares away with her girlfriends. In the video, she turns up on a party bus, having the time of her life.

Back at home, Bey is joined by none other than a twerking Serena Williams who bounces while Beyonce sings, “Middle fingers up/Put them hands high/Wave it in his face/Tell him, boy bye!” She also sheds light on who her man has been cheating with, singing: “He better call Becky with the good hair.”

“We Family”

On this “4:44” track, which received help in the form of the couple’s 5-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, Jay-Z seems appreciative of the family he’s created. And in fact, Jay-Z says he’d do anything to keep his family together.

“And thank the heavens for BB, her Creole roots run deeply,” he raps, referencing Beyonce. “I’m crazy, you ever leave me I might have to put on a gris-gris/Spell for us to stay together.”

“Sandcastles”

In this rare ballad on “Lemonade,” Beyonce recognizes that she may have hurt her husband by claiming she was leaving him after his infidelity. But watching him hurting, she sings that she can no longer leave. “Your heart is broken ’cause I walked away/And I know I promised that I couldn’t stay baby/Every promise don’t work out that way,” she sings.

“Adnis”

This song on “4:44” is actually a “letter” to the rapper’s father, Adnis Reeves, who left the family when Jay-Z was only 12 years old. Still, the song also addresses how that absence could’ve affected how he is as a man, a husband and a father. “Who would’ve thought I’d be the dad I never had,” he raps, “Be the husband I’ve become, usually nothing come from that.”

“All Night”

In this song on “Lemonade,” Beyonce croons to her husband that she wants to rediscover the love they had by making up “all night long.” And although she knows that “so many people” are “just tryna’ touch ya’,” she still wants to “give you some time to prove that I can trust you again.”

The final song on “4:44” is purely dedicated to Beyonce. Throughout the song, he talks about how much the two have accomplished — from their joint “On the Run” tour back in 2014 to repairing their relationship.

“Look at all we been through since last August/Skating through the rumors like, “Aw, s—!”/Still came back, f—– up the red carpet/Shows how big your heart is,” he begins. The song ends with, “I always thought she was an angel, now I’m sure, sure.”

Comedian Dave Chappelle has recently shed some light on the reasons why Jay Z and Diddy allegedly want to harm their fellow rapper Kanye West.

Chappelle explained during a stand-up comedy show that there is a deeper conflict between West and the two hip-hop moguls.

Chappelle’s revelations came during a performance at the Improv comedy club in Washington, D.C. He explained that the root of the problem lies in a dispute over ownership and control within the music industry.

JAY-Z isn’t interested in having a rap battle with Kanye West. He wants to have an actual conversation with the man. According to Jay, the breaking point for him and Kanye’s relationship is when West decided to mention their families on stage in Sacramento.

Jay says at 00:51:10 “What really hurt me —you can’t bring my kids and my wife into it. Kanye is my little brother, he talked about me 100 times… We’ve gotten past bigger issues. But you brought my family into it. Now it’s a problem with me. That’s a real real problem.”

He continues at 00:58:30 saying “It (reconciliation with Kanye) requires a real conversation. And we’ll have it. We’ll have it soon. I’m sure we’ll have it.” Though we would love to be a fly on the wall for this conversation, it’s clear that it’s something that is better handled away from public eyes.

With lines like “You dropped outta school, you lost your principles,” and “You ain’t a saint, this ain’t kumbaye” we were positive that JAY-Z was throwing shots at ‘Ye in response to his Saint Pablo Tour rant back in November of 2016. But Jay set’s the record straight around the 00:50:00 mark.

“It’s not even about Kanye, it really isn’t.” He goes on to say “It’s not a diss, I’m talking to myself the whole time.” Nonetheless, Jay fully admits that their are still unresolved issues between himself and Kanye.

We had a feeling that JAY-Z was #TeamIssa when he featured the ‘Insecure’ actress in his music video for 4:44’s Moonlight. But Jay confirmed our suspicions when he used Issa’s HBO show as an example of the changing TV landscape.

At the 00:04:10 mark Jay says “When you look at TV, you don’t see a fair, equal, representation of people of color… Insecure is on TV and it’s like ‘Oh Sh-t!’. It’s like a big deal. It’s 2017. That should be an everyday occurrence.”

Get Out film

The most profitable movie of 2017, ‘Get Out’, had a lot of people in their feelings with its unique exploration of racism. But JAY-Z found the movie especially creepy. Specifically the scene where Daniel Kaluuya is hypnotized by a cup of tea and spoon.

At the 00:49:00 mark Jay details his first experience with therapy. “It was like a probation thing. I hated it, the lady was giving me tea and sh-t. That’s why when I saw ‘Get Out’ I was like ‘Oh sh-t, she had my f-cked up!’ She was giving me tea and she rang a little bell at the end when it was done… And I always left there feeling separated.”

Future

Mumble rappers, including Future, have been in their feelings since Jay shut down the “Money Phone” trend with the scathing line on “Story of O.J.”. He raps, “Y’all on the gram holding money to your ear, there’s a disconnect we don’t call that money over here”.

Hov also referenced Future’s public spats with Ciara and her husband, NFL star Russell Wilson, with the line on “Kill Jay Z”. Jay explains his reasoning for the line around the 00:55:30 mark.

“The way his (Future) situation plays out, because he’s such a public figure, mine would’ve played out that way and maybe four times more… it was a line to say that could happen to me in my future.

It just so happens his name is Future.” He also voiced his confusion over the money phone controversy “I had to listen again like ‘How is this being misinterpreted?’ because I just said it ain’t money to us. It ain’t. That’s just an honest statement.”

Before Tidal was a competitor to Apple Music and Spotify, being a part owner was simply a vision in JAY-Z’s mind. The task of taking on the music industry was so daunting that friend and long time collaborator, Pharrell Williams recommended Jay accept a lucrative offer from Apple instead.

“Pharrell he’s brother of mine, he loves me. So he see’s the obstacle that is at the time Apple… They got like a trillion dollars. More. It’s hard to see, like how are you even going to get started?,” Jay recalls around the 00:40:00 mark.

We all know that Jay didn’t accept the offer and did indeed go on to revive the streaming service. Maybe one day we will find out exactly how much money JAY-Z turned down from Apple.

JAY-Z acknowledged his culpability in the elevator incident on “Kill Jay Z” with the lyric “You egged Solange on. Knowin’ all along, all you had to say you was wrong”. Apart from that lyric, much of their relationship has been shrouded in mystery and hearsay.

In a rare and personal moment, JAY-Z opened up about Solange at the 1:00:00 mark. “We’ve had one disagreement ever. Before and after we’ve been cool… That’s my sister, I will protect her. You know? That’s my sister. Not my sister-in-law, my sister. Period.”

The infamous elevator fight at The Standard Hotel (444 West 13th Street) was rumored to be the inspiration for the title of Jay’s new album. It turns out the theory is completely true.

Around the 1:08:30 mark Jay Z tells the story of him and Beyoncé unknowingly returning to the scene of the incident. “This is before the song, way before the song. Just walking in New York…We didn’t realize we were on that block and we walked past it and we we’re like ‘Oh sh-t.. F–k this place’ (laughter)”

Jay-Z’s alleged 30-year-old son, Rymir Satterthwaite, is sharing new details about the purported affair his late mother, Wanda Satterthwaite, had with the rapper in 1992.

In a signed 2015 affidavit given to the Daily Mail by Rymir, Wanda claims that she met Jay-Z — who at the time went by “Rock” — in Philadelphia through her friend, Kaleesha Allen.

Wanda claimed she referred to herself as “Carmel” or “Precious” at the time and that Allen, who reportedly signed the affidavit as an eyewitness, was the only person who knew about the alleged encounter.

Wanda alleged that she and the “Hard Knock Life” emcee had “protected sex,” but that the “protection broke” when she was just 16 and Jay-Z, whose legal name is Shawn Carter, was 22, according to the Daily Mail.

The Post has contacted reps for Jay-Z and Rymir for comment.

Jay-Z’s legal team has denied Wanda’s claims.

“Affidavit of Wanda Satterthwaite and Shawn Carter relationship,” the document, which was signed by a notary public in New Jersey on Feb. 25, 2015, begins.

“I, Wanda Satterthwaite, write these allegations about my relationship with Shawn C. Carter. I met Shawn Corey Carter in fall 1992 and he identifies himself as ‘Rock’ through my friend Kaleesha Allen, who is [an] eyewitness.

“Mr. Carter and a friend came to Philadelphia to pick up both me and Kaleesha around the area of 24th and Bolton St. in Philadelphia,” Wanda recalled.

The woman claimed that they then all drove to Jay-Z’s aunt’s apartment in Brooklyn.

She described the building in which the two-bedroom apartment was located and recalled what Jay-Z was wearing.

“Shawn was wearing a black Woolrich hood jacket and a hat, and his hair was in a small afro, but once we left his aunt’s place, he put on a black leather jacket.”

She claimed that the group “talked, drank, and danced” before her “girlfriend went off to the room with Shawn’s friend and I went with Shawn [to the other room].

“Shawn and I did have protected sex, but the protection broke,” Wanda wrote about their alleged encounter.

She continued in the document that Jay-Z and his unnamed friend “returned two weeks later to see” her and Allen, but Allen was not present because she was “having problems at home.”

“Shawn asked me to leave with him, but I told him I could not because my mother would be upset,” Wanda claimed. “I never saw him again until a year later on television, but I had no idea of his real name until later and did not know how to reach him.”

Although these intimate details of the alleged fling are new, Wanda legally fought until she died in 2019 for Jay-Z to take a paternity test.

She died of heart failure at age 43.

However, Graves’ name was later removed from the birth certificate after a paternity test determined that he had no biological connection to Rymir.

While laughing about the situation, 50 Cent said that Beyoncé definitely took herself out of character for him.

Is Jay-Z Druging Beyoncé? Bodyguard Allegations Explained

Earlier this year a man claiming to be one of Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s former bodyguards accused Jay-Z of keeping Beyoncé drugged. The man, who goes by the name Uncle Ron also claimed Jay is obsessed with controlling the former Destiny’s Child leader and that their marriage was solely a business transaction.

While he didn’t offer much proof to back up his claims beisdes merewords, he isn’t the only person to make the allegations. A woman also laid similar claims about Jay and Bey’s relationship.

Days after Ron’s comments on TikTok went viral, culture commentator Jaguar Wright summoned the courage to call Jay-Z a “monster” who keeps Beyoncé drugged to control her.

Because Beyoncé spent most of her teenage years recording and touring, she never really got to meet boys are age and Jay-Z, who was already in his 30s was her first serious relationship.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé dated officially for almost ten years before eventually tying the knot April 4, 2008 when Beyoncé was 27. Their relationship was the envy of the music world, but according to uncle Ron, the marriage was nothing more than a business transaction arranged to elevate both their careers.

“To remember your relationship was a business relationship. Financial, to get to the top, to become billionaires. There’s no love there,” claimed Uncle in a since deleted Tiktok video. [not sure if he deleted it himself or if it was taken down].

Jaguar Wright also seemed to back up Ron’s claims with more damming allegations. In a video that surfaced online, Jag Wright described Jay-Z as a “monster” who keeps Beyoncé hooked on drugs to keep her compliant. She also claimed Beyoncé was a prisoner in her marriage and charged the BeyHive to start a free Beyoncé movement.

“I tell you this right now, y’all talking about free Brittney [Griner], y’all need to be doing a campaign and say ‘free Beyoncé.’ She is a prisoner in a guilty cage,” she declared. “And she’s watched 24 hours a day, she’s not allowed to make a choice for herself, not at all, not in anyway. People think she has this amazing life. She is told what to say, she is told what to eat, she is told what to drink, she is told what to wear.”

“She is not her husband’s wife, she is his employee,” Jaguar added. “It’s a business arrangement, she was a dowry.”

People found it difficult to understand why Beyoncé would choose to remain in the relationship if Jag’s comments about her being basically treated like a puppet were true, but uncle Ron noted in his TikTok video that Jay-Z uses drugs to subdue her, and that both Jay-Z and Beyoncé “will do anything to destroy anyone who speaks out against them.”

Is Jay-Z Drugging Beyoncé?

Truth be told, I find the allegations untrue because Beyoncé is BEYONCÉ. Even if she is no longer as vocal openly and has lost a bit of her early star power her family and friends are very influential still, and I doubt her mother, Tina Knowles would stay quiet if the Queen Bey was getting rag dolled, most importantly after dealing with abuse in her marriage.

Nevertheless, Jay-Z has alluded to being a manipulative and absent husband. In his song 4:44 he said “I seen the innocence live your eyes, I still mourn its death.” He later adds, “I apologize to all the women whom I toyed with their emotions because I was emotionless.”

Bey also opened up about her husband’s infidelity on her sixth solo album Lemonade, which was about breaking free from generational shackles. In a 2018 interview with Vogue she explained she comes “from a lineage of broken male-female relationships, abuse of power, and mistrust”, including a slave owner who married a slave. “Only when I saw that clearly was I able to resolve those conflicts in my own relationship. Connecting to the past and knowing our history makes us both bruised and beautiful.”

On ‘Daddy Lessons’ she likens Jay-Z cheating on her with her father Mathew Knowles cheating on her mother Tina.

Beyonce tried to live the marriage after finding out about Jay’s affair with ‘Becky with the good hair,’ but the two patched up their differences privately.

This weekend, Beyoncé took to her Instagram story and the Ivy Park Twitter account to showcase a breathtaking new look from the ‘Icy Park’ collection.

In the captivating photo, she graces hot-pink leggings and a matching crop top, perfectly complementing the white fur-lined Jeep in the background.

During an enlightening “Ask Me Anything” session, Beyoncé delved into the inspiration behind Ivy Park and shared insights into her role as a designer.

“As I continue to grow, I recognize my worth more each day,” she revealed. “Taking control of my work and legacy became crucial, allowing me to connect with my fans authentically.

I desired my words and art to emanate directly from my essence. There were moments in my career where I acted without realizing I could say no. We all possess more power than we comprehend.”

Reflecting on the transformative impact of motherhood, particularly after the birth of her eldest, Blue Ivy, Beyoncé spoke of a profound shift in perspective.

“I underwent a metamorphosis within my relationships, intensifying my pursuit of self-discovery,” she shared. “Regressing became challenging for me.

The pursuit of ‘being number one’ no longer held precedence. True victory, for me, lies in crafting art and a legacy that transcends my lifetime. That, to me, is fulfillment.”

As the tour wraps after 57 shows, we chart her unmissable tour wardrobe

And it’s over. After 57 shows around the world, Beyoncé’s much-celebrated Renaissance tour finally wrapped at the Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, on 1 October. And, of course, throughout the course of its run, the impressive three-hour set featured an ever-rotating wardrobe of high-octane, custom-made looks.

The tour started in Stockholm on 10 May, before heading through Europe and then across Canada and the United States. The disco-themed show embodied everything from female empowerment to Black pride and, to match the high-energy album, Beyoncé performed in a series of glittering catsuits and striking metallic corsets by a string of luxury brands and designers like Alexander McQueen, Loewe, Gucci, Fendi and David Koma.

“For us, the designers, it is not just an amazing exposure but a wonderful cultural moment to be a part of,” Koma told us, adding that Beyoncé herself is “exceptionally involved in all the details”. The designer has worked with the singer – who he refers to as “a true artist and superwoman” – and her team on multiple occasions, so he said collaborating again felt “natural”.

“A global tour like this is an incredible, culture-defining event,” he said. “Having seen some of the videos from this tour – you just know it’s a once-in-a-lifetime magical performance that every attendee will remember forever… Considering the creativity that goes into putting on a show like that, it makes sense to work with designers for special couture and custom looks.”

Fellow designer Iris van Herpen also expressed that creating for Beyoncé was a “huge honour”. After crafting a beautiful silver gown (which took 12 people and 700 hours to make), the designer said: “In her epic Renaissance tour, Beyoncé embodies feminine empowerment. She symbolises that confidence radiates from within and that beauty thrives in diversity. Her style is a kaleidoscope of elegance that inspired me and my team in every stitch, every bead and every petal.”

There’s good news for those who weren’t able to catch the tour in person, or who want to relive the magic from the night; Beyoncé has confirmed that a concert film is coming soon, featuring her personal highlights from the show, unseen backstage footage and an insight into the rehearsal process.

Beyoncé debuted some new designs of her own during her world tour, including this neon pink look created under her brand Ivy Park. Beyoncé said in an Instagram post that she was “proud to be among the very talented Black designers featured”.

“I started designing this collection over a year ago,” she wrote. “I was so engulfed in all things Renaissance and was inspired by Studio 54, Bob Mackie and the disco era.”

As Beyoncé’s tour moved to Barcelona, she continued her stylish streak with a shimmering Stella McCartney look. The silver crystal dress and leggings were made from conscious materials at the designer’s London atelier, with lead-free crystals and responsibly sourced, traceable and RWS-certified wool.
